In C by Terry Riley with Third Coast Percussion and Friends

Summer is a time for being outdoors, enjoying friends and neighbors, and listening to music! We are excited to partner with DeBartolo Performing Arts Center Artist-In-Residence and 2017 Grammy Award winners Third Coast Percussion, along with The Music Village and the Bowman Creek Educational Ecosystem to bring you a community-led music event at James Whitcomb Riley High School.

Dear Music Lovers, My name is Sean Connors with Third Coast Percussion, the Ensemble-in-Residence at Notre Dame University’s DeBartolo Performing Arts Center. We are so excited to be partnering with several incredible institutions from across South Bend including LangLab, The Music Village, Bowman Creek Educational Ecosystem and Urban Adventures to present a not-too-miss summer community performance event. We will all be joining forces to perform Terry Riley’s groundbreaking and joyous work “In C” on Saturday July 29th at James Whitcomb Riley High School. “In C” is an open-instrumentation piece, which means any type of singer or instrumentalist can participate. Here is a video of a our performance of In C with 100 of our friends in downtown Chicago from 2015: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzmi7Wm10Y0 And here is a short tutorial video about how to perform In C that we made for a previous performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XzlKuk5LwU&feature=youtu.be The performance will begin at 7:00 PM and in order to participate as a performer in the performance, it will be necessary to attend a rehearsal earlier in the day at 3:00 PM. Dinner will be provided in between the rehearsal and the performance for performers, and we will all have the opportunity to socialize at that time as well!
